Proposal to transfer the regional conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to Rome came from Chisinau to allow the meeting to be held in accordance with the FAO statute and its rules of procedure. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) made the statement on April 11.
Referring to the 34th edition of the FAO Conference for Europe, the ministry reiterated that the Moldovan authorities had come up with the position of not admitting to its territory representatives of FAO member-states waging a war of aggression against another FAO member-state.
“Moldovan authorities have informed all the actors about the possible ways of participation in a hybrid format of delegations in the event. As the Republic of Moldova meets international commitments, the proposal to transfer the event to Rome came from Chisinau to allow the meeting to take place in accordance with the FAO statute and its rules of procedure. The best contribution Russia could make is to stop its aggression against Ukraine and to comply with the principles of the UN Charter,” the MAE said.
The institution said that the event in Rome would be held under the auspices of the Moldovan Presidency. (Moldpres)
