Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, together with representatives of the operational headquarters at Chornobyl NPP led by Hryhorii Ishchenko, Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, inspected the consequences of the hit of a russian attack drone with an explosive warhead into the protective shell of the New Safe Confinement. The situation is under control.
According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated more than UAH 1.5 billion to maintain the safe condition of the Chornobyl NPP shelter. It increased funding by 139 million compared to 2024.
“We continue to cooperate with partners and donors. The EBRD has assured us of its support for the safety of the Chornobyl NPP and its readiness to make joint efforts to mitigate and eliminate the consequences of this aggression. Technical consultations are next in line,” said Svitlana Grynchuk.
Svitlana Grynchuk talked to the rescuers and specialists of the operational headquarters who monitored the site 24/7. Liquidation of the consequences of the russian terrorist attack continues.
“The radiation level at the site has not changed since February 14. The radiation situation is under constant control. This was also confirmed by the IAEA experts who inspected the damage and made their own measurements,” said Svitlana Grynchuk.
The minister noted that russians continued to threaten nuclear safety.
“Attacks on our infrastructure continue. The events at Chornobyl NPP are the line that russia has once again crossed, because the New Safe Confinement was built to protect against radiation threat, not against armed aggression. We must work together with the international community to find solutions to stop the enemy,” she concluded. (Government portal)
