Electric transport company in Chisinau is currently assembling 20 new trolleybuses, which will start operating in late February.
The General Directorate of Transport and Communications announced that 20 new AKSM trolleybuses, manufactured at the Minsk plant and brought to Chisinau for assembly, were assembled in the repair shop of the above-mentioned utility.
Vitalie Mihalache, the head of the nominated department, said that the mayor’s office had allocated another 80 million lei for the purchase and assembly of trolleybuses.
“City councilors have allocated 80 million lei for the purchase and assembly of other trolleybuses. Last year, 82 new trolleybuses were assembled here,” Mihalache said.
AKSM trolleybuses purchased from Belarus have air conditioning system, indoor and outdoor video surveillance system, special place for hand luggage, USB sockets for traveling and for charging electronic devices, LED based optical blocks, mirrors equipped with heating system and folding ramp for access.
According to the data of the General Directorate of Transport and Communications, in Chisinau, 400 thousand passengers travel by trolleybus every day. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
