The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan sold 151 kg of gold in weighted bullion bars for almost 420 million soms, the Chairman of the NB KR Tolkunbek Abdygulov declared.
According to him, the Parliament didn’t support the proposal of the National Bank to abolish customs payments for the import of small gold bars, which would make them more attractive in price. Now all the bars sold weighting from 1 to 31 g are from the first batch released.
“The project on the sale of gold bars has been successfully implemented. The population began getting used to it. Recently, not only Bishkek, but also the regions began buying small gold bars”, Abdygulov said.
The number of lots of 100-gram bars is more than ten. They are produced in Kyrgyzstan and are most popular among the population due to the fact that they are slightly cheaper due to the lack of expenses for payment of import duties.
The National Bank launched the project on the sale of gold bullion bars in May 2015. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
