Over the past three years, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested about $300 million into Kyrgyzstan, EBRD Regional Director for Central Asia Neil McCain said at a meeting with Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
The bank finances projects in the field of improving the municipal infrastructure, such as the rehabilitation of water supply and sewage systems, improved urban transport and solid waste management in Bishkek and Osh.
The Prime Minister spoke about the establishment of the Project Development Fund and called on the EBRD to participate in its capitalization.
“Business of Kyrgyzstan needs working capital in the preparation of investment projects at the international level and is facing problems of collateral loans. To address these issues, the government is considering the establishment of a new financial instrument – Project Preparation Fund,” press service quoted Prime Minister.
EBRD representative said that they focused attention on financing in the field of environmental projects and expressed readiness to continue close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
