Bellesbumprom enterprises branched out into 12 new markets in 2016, Bellesbumprom spokesperson Ruzhena Novitskaya said.
“The export geography of Bellesbumprom enterprises included such new destinations as Bangladesh, Bahrain, Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Morocco, the UAE, Albania, Iraq, Israel, and Luxembourg. In January-November 2016, the enterprises of Bellesbumprom exported $268.5 million worth of products to 57 countries”, the spokesperson explained.
The Shklov-based newsprint mill started exporting products to Bangladesh, Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The export of newsprint to these countries made up $1.3 million in January-November 2016.
“Trial batches of plywood were delivered to Morocco, furniture – to the UAE and Albania, interior doors – to Iraq. The new enterprise of Bellesbumprom SOOO Exclusive exported paper hygiene products to Israel. OAO Borisovski DOK launched the export of fuel wood to Luxembourg”, she noted.
According to the Bellesbumprom spokesperson, Belarusian forestry industry enterprises also resumed the export of chipboard to Greece and timber to Portugal in 2016.
“The companies continued and raised the export of products to the markets penetrated in 2015. These include Pakistan, Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In January-November 2016, Belarusian enterprises exported $5.14 million worth of products to these promising markers”, Ruzhena Novitskaya said.
Apart from the penetration of new markets, the enterprises boosted the export to traditional markets. In particular, the export to Denmark and Ireland went up 2 times, to Iran and Slovenia 1.7 times, Italy and Poland 1.5 times, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Georgia 1.4 times.
“Positive dynamics can be also seen in the volume of export to other distant countries. This is the result of the Bellesbumprom companies’ efforts to diversify export. The share of export to distant countries went up by 8.3% in January-November 2016”, she said.
The Belarusian forestry industry concern Bellesbumprom unites about 50 enterprises of various forms of ownership that are the biggest wood processing companies in the country. Bellesbumprom enterprises specialize in wood processing, furniture making, and pulp and paper production. Companies of the concern offer more than 80 kinds of wood and paper products. Major exports to distant countries are wood boards, plywood, furniture, timber, paper, cardboard, and wallpapers. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
