Belarus will sell more food to Russia in 2017 than in 2016, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats reported.
The minister noted that the boards of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Russian Agriculture Ministry decided on the amount of food supplies every year.
“We set certain reference targets for Belarusian and Russian processing enterprises. According to our projections, Belarus’ milk and dairy exports to Russia will go up from 4 million tons in 2016 to 4.1 million tons in 2017. We also expect an increase in our meat exports”, Zayats said.
He commented on the position of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) regarding Belarusian meat and dairy products: “Amid Rosselkhoznadzor’s groundless complaints, we are not leaving the Russian market. The Belarusian manufacturers of agricultural products export to the common Eurasian market facing tough competition. Therefore, all producers and agricultural enterprises should work hard to provide high-quality raw materials for the processing industry and ensure high quality of their products”.
