Bellesbumprom companies have increased the export to Turkey by more than 30% in January-September, the spokesperson for Bellesbumprom Concern Ruzhena Novitskaya reported.
“The foundation of our trade and economic relations was laid during the visits of the chairman of Bellesbumprom Concern to Turkey who took part in the Belarusian Investment Forum in Istanbul in November 2015 and in February 2016. We established contacts with the residents of the specialized industrial zone of furniture manufacturers and wood processing companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the union of exporters of furniture, paper, and wood processing products, and a number of leading Turkish companies”, Ruzhena Novitskaya stressed.
In her words, these efforts helped Bellesbumprom enterprises raise the export to Turkey by 31.82% YoY to $1.34 million.
Major exports of Belarusian enterprises are plywood, wood boards (chipboards and fiberboards), newsprint, industrial wood, fuel timber, chipped wood, and wallpapers. The export of fiberboards went up four times, the export of newsprint – 1.9 times. Bellesbumprom organizations, in turn, import furnishing fabrics and accessories from Turkey, Ruzhena Novitskaya said.
The spokesperson noted that the cooperation of Bellesbumprom Concern with Turkish partners in the manufacturing sector and investment was also vigorously developing. The negotiations with the largest wood processing holding company in Turkey are in progress. This enterprise is one of the leading manufacturers of wood boards in the world. Turkish and Belarusian companies are mulling over the prospects of cooperation.
“The Turkish company is interested in the expansion of business in Belarus thanks to the cooperation with the local manufacturers of wood boards. Belarus’ favorable geographic location allowing the country to penetrate promising European markets, the availability of raw materials and modernized production facilities are the main advantages of work in our country, and the holding company sees it. Our experts have already analyzed the potential of Belarusian enterprises and submitted various cooperation scenarios to the both sides”, she said.
The industrial cooperation between furniture manufacturers also has good prospects.
“The dialogue with the members of the Turkish Association of Furniture Manufactures is in progress. There were reciprocal visits of Belarusian and Turkish delegations, contacts were established, the issue of setting up joint ventures or a furniture cluster with the participation of Turkish companies is under consideration. There are good prospects for the manufacture of soft furniture from natural materials (Belarus has high-quality wood, Turkey is famous for a good choice of excellent textiles and leather). The production of furniture accessories is also interesting”, the spokesperson explained. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
