The State Tax Service, together with international partners, is working on new effective measures to improve cybersecurity. The Head of the State Tax Service, Lesya Karnaukh, and the Executive Director of the Estonian Center for International Development ESTDEV, Andrea Kivi, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The cooperation entail:
– Modernization of the cyber infrastructure of the State Tax Service;
– Implementation of a privileged access management system (PAM) to critical information systems and resources.
“In fact, we are creating a single protected loop for controlling access to the most important information systems of the State Tax Service. We will strengthen control over who, when and to what resources has access. And we will respond promptly to potential internal threats,” said Lesya Karnaukh.
Cooperation is not limited to the acquisition and deployment of software. Specialists of the State Tax Service and ESTDEV will work together on technical solutions, conduct testing and validation of the implemented system, as well as train administrators and users. In fact, a new protection system is being implemented.
Another important direction is the modernization of the State Tax Service’s server and network infrastructure, as well as the implementation of platforms for monitoring, analytics and network management. This should make IT systems more reliable, speed up data processing and decision-making.
“Such a partnership is of strategic importance for us, as it concerns a critically important area – cybersecurity and cyber resilience. In the conditions of a full-scale war, when state institutions are under constant cyberattacks, reliable protection of information systems and data is an absolute priority of the State Tax Service,” the head of the State Tax Service emphasized.
Active cooperation between the State Tax Service and ESTDEV continues within the framework of the project “Support for the Digitalization of Tax Administration of the State Tax Service of Ukraine” within the framework of the Tallinn Mechanism. The project, in particular, is aimed at increasing voluntary compliance with tax legislation and developing the capacity to counteract tax fraud. An important component of cooperation is also supporting the process of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. (State Tax Service)
