Azersun Holding Group of Companies plans to bring the share of Azerbaijani raw materials in production at its enterprises to 40-50% this year, Abdolbari Goozal, chairman of the holding’s supervisory board, said.
He also said currently the share of local raw materials in the holding’s production was about 30%. Raw materials for some kinds of the holding’s products come from abroad. In particular, the holding gets 85% of the raw materials needed for sugar production from other countries. In order to produce sugar using only local raw materials, Azersun needs about $130 million, Goozal said.
He added that the cost of sugar production plant was $300 million.
Goozal noted that the holding had requested support from Azerbaijan’s government to fully switch to local production.
This year, at the holding’s own expense, Azersun will be able to increase the share of local raw materials in production to 40-50%. Still there are products manufactured by the holding with the use of only local raw materials, such as salt. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
