Ukraine has received humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan to support its energy sector. The shipment includes over 50 types of high- and low-voltage cable products, generators of various capacities and transformer equipment.
“This aid was provided under the Agreement on the Donation of Energy Equipment for the Restoration of Energy Infrastructure,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, on her Facebook page.
According to her, Ukraine and Azerbaijan signed this agreement on August 11, following Azerbaijan’s announcement of allocating $2 million from its reserve fund to purchase and deliver electrical equipment.
“Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Azerbaijan has sent Ukraine 125 humanitarian shipments weighing a total of 2,110 tons, valued at over $11.5 million. The aid included generators, power transformers, transformer substations, cable products and other critical equipment,” emphasised the Minister of Energy.
Since russia’s full-scale invasion began, this is the fourth agreement on humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan to Ukraine’s energy sector.
“I am grateful to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for supporting the international track in the energy sector. I express my gratitude to the people of Azerbaijan and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for supporting Ukraine during these challenging times. Special thanks go to the representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy in Azerbaijan for their efforts in strengthening our relations with strategic partners,” Svitlana Grynchuk said.
According to the Head of the Ministry of Energy, Baku’s support remains crucial for Ukraine. This cooperation helps strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which faces daily enemy attacks. Every resource provided enables energy workers to respond swiftly to damage and restore facilities more quickly, bringing light and heat back to the homes of millions of Ukrainians.
The shipment was received in Ukraine by Deputy Minister of Energy for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalisation Roman Andarak and First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ukraine Farid Babayev. (Government portal)
