The Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo and Siemens Company have signed a cooperation agreement, the Belenergo press service reported.
The document was signed by Belenergo Director General Yevgeny Voronov and Siemens AG Vice President Willi Meixner.
The sides intend to work together on the concept and preliminary technical solutions for using Siemens-made gas turbine power plants for building power-generating facilities in Belarus that will take the load at peak hours. The priority avenues of cooperation include the introduction of complex energy-saving solutions for modernizing technological processes at power engineering installations.
During the meeting Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik noted that Belarus was always open to cooperation on mutually beneficial terms. Belarus prioritizes energy-effective projects reliant on modern equipment made by companies that have earned a good reputation on the local market. The Energy Minister thanked Siemens for its approaches to resolving equipment maintenance issues and suggested continuing the dialogue during the Belarusian-German economic forum in October.
Willi Meixner noted he was impressed with professionalism in the organization of power engineering work in Belarus, with the competence and far-sightedness of Belarusian specialists, the overall intention on future development and use of state-of-the-art equipment as well as the rational approach to implementing investment projects.
