This year the grain yield in Belarus is above last year’s average, Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vladimir Grakun said.
“This year the grain yield in the country is above last year’s figures. The average yield in 2017 is 35.8 hundredweights per hectare, with Grodno region posting the crop capacity of 43.5 hundredweights per hectare,” Vladimir Grakun said.
A record high yield of more than 100 hundredweights per hectare was achieved by four agricultural companies of the country.
“The Agricultural Company Named After Kremko, Grodno district got 110.6 hundredweights per hectare, the Svisloch farm – 101.5 hundredweights per hectare, the Progress-Vertelishki farm – 104.2 hundredweights per hectare, the Gastellovskoye company in Minsk district – 102.9 hundredweights per hectare. This proves that grain varieties can give high yields today. For this we need the implementation of all technological elements, timely cropping and proper harvest preservation,” said the deputy minister.
The grain harvest in Belarus will soon be over. The country has already cropped almost 7 million tons of grain. About 90% of areas under crops have been cut.
“Belarus is completing its harvest campaign, except for Vitebsk region, the country’s northern region, where 65.5% of areas have been cropped so far,” noted First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich.
A total of 9,474 grain harvesters have been used in this year’s harvest campaign. Agrarians cropped up to 5% of planted areas on a daily basis. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
