The major overhaul of the national highway M-09 Ternopil – Lviv – Rava-Ruska (to the city of Lublin) is underway on the section from Lviv to the Rava-Ruska checkpoint with Poland.
The work is being carried out within the framework of the project “Development of the Trans-European Transport Network (Ukraine – Road Corridors)” with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The total cost of the work is over 100 million euros.
The work started in April 2025 and covers two sections of the road with a total length of over 62 km.
“Despite all the challenges of the war, we continue to implement strategic infrastructure projects. The repair of the M-09 road is an investment in a safe and modern transport connection with the European Union. This route is one of the key ones for transporting people and goods to the Polish border, so its modernization strengthens Ukraine’s logistical capabilities, supports the economy, and brings our transport system closer to European standards,” said Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Community and Territorial Development.
In particular, construction readiness on one of the sections is already almost 50%. This involves the installation of appropriate layers of coating.
Work is also actively underway on six bridge structures. Their readiness is from 53% to 85%, and one structure has already been fully completed.
Work on another section is over 40%. In parallel, seven artificial structures are being reconstructed. Six of them are 80-90% ready, and another one is 45%. Three bridge structures have already been fully completed.
The route is an important component of the international transport corridor to Lublin and the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), which will contribute to the development of international logistics, increase throughput capacity and strengthen transport integration of Ukraine with the European Union.
