Russian Railways (RZD), against the backdrop of billions in losses, put the Moscow Towers skyscraper in the “Moscow City” business center up for auction. A corresponding notice appeared on the holding’s portal. The starting price of 376,000 sq. m of office space will be provided upon request, and the auction date has not yet been set, the state monopoly said in a statement.
The holding acquired the office part of the skyscraper in 2024 for 193.1 billion rubles with the organizational support of VEB. RF. However, according to consultants who worked with the object, RZD needed to invest about half of this amount in the interior decoration, which delayed the relocation of the company’s units to “Moscow City”. At the end of last year, the government instructed to sell the asset, including its inclusion in the investment program for 2026. As a source of RBC, close to the monopoly, said, the deal should be break-even for the holding (The Moscow Times).
