Ensuring a stable supply of drugs and vaccines for Ukrainian livestock and poultry farming, as well as the formation of updated rules for the functioning of the veterinary pharmaceutical market, became the key topics of an extended working meeting at the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
The participants discussed the status of the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Veterinary Medicine”, the development of the necessary by-laws and further harmonization of domestic regulation with the norms of the European Union.
The event was attended by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, representatives of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection, specialists from specialized departments, as well as heads of leading industry associations, manufacturing enterprises and importers.
“Our key task is to ensure a smooth and predictable transition of the veterinary industry to European regulatory standards. By implementing strict quality and safety requirements, we are obliged to maintain market stability, prevent shortages of critically important vaccines and drugs, and create transparent conditions for both domestic manufacturers and importers. Adaptation periods and simplification of administrative procedures are the balance that will allow business to operate efficiently and without disruptions,” Taras Vysotsky emphasized.
The meeting discussed, in particular, the implementation of the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On Veterinary Medicine”, the development of regulations on the state registration of veterinary medicinal products, updating licensing conditions for their production, import, wholesale and retail trade, as well as the introduction of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements.
The participants also discussed practical aspects of the transition period, in particular the possibility and procedure for making changes to the registration materials of veterinary medicinal products registered before March 1, 2026. Finally, we considered the procedural issues of state registration of biocides in Ukraine and outlined further steps to improve the relevant regulatory mechanisms. (Agrarian Ministry)
