Construction of modern truck parking lots has begun in the Lviv region near the international road checkpoints “Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne” and “Krakovets – Korchova”.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program and is part of the European Union initiative “EU-Ukraine Solidarity Routes”. Its goal is to modernize border infrastructure, increase logistics efficiency and improve conditions for international road transportation.
The project plans to equip 270 parking spaces near the “Rava-Ruska” checkpoint and 200 near “Krakovets”. The areas will be used for temporary stopping of freight transport, rest of drivers and waiting before crossing the state border.
“Modern waiting areas allow us to streamline freight traffic, reduce the load on access roads, and make border crossing more organized and safe. We have already built the first exemplary service zone near the Reni checkpoint, and next in line is infrastructure in the Lviv region. Our strategic goal is to have appropriate locations in front of all checkpoints,” said Serhiy Derkach, First Deputy Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine.
Currently, contracting organizations have already begun preparatory and construction work. In particular, clearing the territory, transferring engineering networks, and arranging drainage systems is underway. Wells for water supply have also been installed on the site in front of Krakivts, and work has begun on arranging storm sewers.
The next stages include the installation of road surfaces, lighting, sidewalks, and speed-change lanes, road markings, and the installation of road signs and fences. Also, sanitary and household premises with stationary electricity and water supply will be equipped on the parking lots.
The creation of new parking lots is part of the systematic modernization of checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border. The implementation of the project will allow for better organization of freight traffic, increase safety and comfort for drivers, and also contribute to the development of transport corridors between Ukraine and the European Union.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the infrastructure project No. 101122932 – 22-EU-TG-PL-UA “Automobile checkpoints” under the Connecting Europe Facility program and is co-financed by the European Union in the amount of up to 50%. (Infrastructure Ministry)
