Ukraine continues to systematically update its passenger rolling stock. Ukrzaliznytsia has signed a contract with PJSC “Kryukiv Carriage Building Plant” for the supply of 92 more new passenger cars of Ukrainian production.
According to the contract, KCBP will manufacture 83 – compartment cars with the possibility of operation in the compartment and luxury format, as well as 9 modern barrier-free cars with inclusive compartments. The supply of cars will continue during 2027-2028.
“Renewal of the passenger fleet is an investment in the sustainability of the transport system, but it is also support for the national manufacturer and Ukrainian industry. Each new car means jobs, taxes, enterprise development and confidence that Ukraine is capable of producing modern rolling stock even in the most difficult conditions,” said the Minister of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine Mykola Kalashnyk.
In total, in 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia has already received 21 new passenger cars of Ukrainian production. 166 Ukrainian enterprises were involved in their production. 358 new passenger cars have already been contracted within the framework of the state program, of which 187 are already transporting passengers.
Russia is systematically attacking railway infrastructure and rolling stock. At the same time, the average age of the passenger car fleet today exceeds 35 years. That is why each new order is a consistent step towards the modernization of Ukrainian railways, increasing transportation safety and ensuring high-quality and comfortable connections for millions of Ukrainians.
