AvtoVAZ is looking for ways to increase demand for its products amid a sales slump. The company has added a new budget configuration, “Classic”, to the price list for the Lada Granta liftback, priced at 1.017 million rubles. Compared to the previous basic version, the price has dropped by 81,000 rubles. The savings were achieved by removing the air conditioner. Other parameters – a 1.6L engine with 90 hp, a manual transmission, one airbag, and so on – have not changed.
Since 2026, AvtoVAZ has raised prices for a number of models, including the Lada Granta liftback, which has risen by 21,000 rubles (+1.9%). Cars from the Lada Iskra, Lada Vesta, Niva Legend, and Niva Travel families have also increased in price, while the Lada Aura and Lada Largus, on the contrary, have become cheaper. In January, the company was able to sell only 19,600 cars – 29% less than a year ago. In February, sales continued to fall and amounted to 19,000 units (-22.5%), and Lada’s market share dropped to 23.8% from 31.5%, calculated “AUTOSTAT”. At AvtoVAZ itself, they previously acknowledged that the beginning of the year was the worst in 20 years and cut the sales plan in February by 15%. The company’s head, Maxim Sokolov, said he expected to sell more than 20,000 cars, but failed to achieve this figure. The Vesta (-62.8%) and Granta (-23.4%) models fell the most (The Moscow Times).
