Armenia and Turkey have discussed connecting their energy systems, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan says.
“We have discussed activating the Gyumri-Kars line to enable electricity flows in both directions, allowing us to sell electricity to the Republic of Turkey when necessary or purchase electricity from Turkey, following the same approach we currently use with Georgia and Iran,” the minister said.
Khudatyan stated that discussions on the matter had also begun with Azerbaijan.
In October, Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure hosted a delegation from Turkey’s electricity transmission company to discuss interconnecting the power grids. A tender has also been announced for design work on the construction of the Gyumri-Kars railway. (Panam)
