Ryanair will introduce direct flights from Bratislava to Chania on the Greek island of Crete as part of its summer 2027 schedule, which begins on March 28.
The Irish low-cost airline plans to operate the route twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, according to Bratislava Airport spokesperson Veronika Demovicova.
Chania is on Crete’s north-western coast, some distance from the island’s capital, Heraklion. The city is known for its Venetian harbour and old town, while nearby attractions include Balos Lagoon and the beaches of Elafonisi and Falasarna.
The airport has already surpassed its previous full-year passenger record of 2.4 million, set in 2025. It reported a record passenger total in each of the first nine months of 2026.
The Bratislava-Chania connection is among the first 29 new routes Ryanair has announced across Europe for summer 2027.
The airline has already put the new services on sale, giving passengers the opportunity to book flights several months before the summer holiday season.
Bratislava Airport chief executive Dusan Novota welcomed the announcement, saying Crete remained a popular destination among Slovak holidaymakers.
“Crete is one of Slovaks’ favourite holiday destinations, so we believe the new direct connection from Bratislava to Chania will be welcomed,” Novota said. (The Slovak Spectator)
