Russian IT specialists have faced not only a halt in salary growth over the past year, but also the need to search for jobs amid staff cuts. This follows from an online survey by the educational platform PurpleSchool and the PR agency Glava, in which more than 1,100 respondents participated. The results of the survey are reported by TASS. According to the study, 22% of IT specialists faced layoffs last year, and more than a quarter – 26% – fear that this will happen to them in the near future.
At the moment, every fifth IT specialist is unemployed, and some are only working on irregular projects. “20% [of respondents] are either looking for a job or unemployed, 15% combine full-time work with part-time jobs or freelancing, and 8% work only on project-based employment,” the study says. On a full-time basis, 52% of IT specialists work, the researchers found. At the same time, as the survey showed, 34% of respondents “are actively looking for a job” (The Moscow Times).
