Russian state clinics are facing problems with the repair of modern and new equipment. Due to sanctions restricting the supply of medical equipment and spare parts, the repair of broken CT and MRI machines can take up to a year, Forbes was told by market participants. According to them, the problem lies in the fact that almost 90% of the heavy medical equipment installed in Russia is produced by companies from countries that have imposed export restrictions since 2022.
“Most electronic components are considered dual-use items, and importing each important part requires a license from BAFA (the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control of Germany), the US Department of Commerce, and other regulators. The number of procedures and delivery times have doubled or tripled because of this,” explained Mikhail Mylnikov, a leading analyst at Vademecum (The Moscow Times).
