In 2017 the managing company of the holding company Belarusian Cement Company exported 1,412,000 tons of cement worth $68.2 million, up by 42.6% YoY, representatives of the holding company reported.
The positive dynamics was secured by the commissioning of new enterprises with state-of-the-art technologies and constant cost-reduction efforts.
“Over the last two years we’ve managed to reduce the prime cost of cement production nearly 2-fold and make these products competitive on foreign markets. At present the prime cost of one ton of cement stands at $37 ($34-35 in summer) instead of $70,” said the source.
Belarusian cement sells well not only in CIS states. The company has managed to sell some in the European Union, too. Cement shipments to Poland and Latvia are on the rise. Market analysts are busy working on other export directions, including distant countries.
“In the near future we intend to start packing cement in 35kg bags for the sake of increasing the export potential and shipping more cement to the European Union,” said the source.
In 2018 Belarusian Cement Company intends to hold on to last year’s accomplishments and increase cement export by at least 4%. Sales profitability is expected to go up by at least 5%. This year the cement company intends to make 3,130,000 tons of cement.
