A new batch of “smart” meters will be purchased in Kyrgyzstan at the expense of the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, Information Support Department of the government reported.
The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov held a working meeting to discuss issues related to the purchase of meters for the automatic system for commercial accounting of power consumption.
The head of government stressed that “smart” meters were considered to be an accurate measurement system in the energy sector. Thanks to them, an established commercial accounting is created, losses and theft of electricity are brought under control. These devices allow analyzing the operation of each object and help plan the consumption of electricity by subscribers with maximum efficiency.
Chairman of the Board of National Energy Holding Company JSC Aibek Kaliev said that the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund would buy meters with the guarantee of the holding to purchase them. Then a loan agreement will be signed between the Fund and the distribution companies and installation of meters to consumers will be carried out.
At the initial stage, it is planned to purchase 200,000 “smart” meters. The project implementation period is three years.
“After the installation of 200,000 “smart” meters, it is expected to reduce power losses by more than 200 million kilowatt-hours per year. In the first year of operation, it is expected to receive an additional income of 220 million soms, while reducing losses by 2%,” Aibek Kaliev said. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
