The total volume of investments of Uzbek insurers amounted to 867.547 billion soums in 2016, up by 19.3% YoY, the country’s Finance Ministry reported.
According to the ministry, a major part of the investments (86.3%) accounted for banking deposits and securities.
The amount of deposits increased by 15.7%, to 390.1 billion soums, investments in securities – by 21.1%, to 358.754 billion soums, the ministry added.
The investments made in the statutory funds of enterprises increased by 27.9%, to 60.599 billion soums, while in real estate – by 30.9%, to 49.465 billion soums.
Meanwhile, the amount of loans issued by insurers increased by 1.9%, to 7.105 billion soums, while the amount of other investments – by 4.8%, to 1.523 billion soums, the ministry said.
The total investments of Uzbek insurers increased by 16.6%, to 727.135 billion soums in 2015.
Currently 26 insurance companies operate in Uzbekistan. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
