By 2021 Kazakhstan plans to have put 610 thousand ha of irrigated farmland into circulation, the Chairman of the Committee for water resources at the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Islam Abishev declared.
In the nearest 5 years Kazakhstan plans to restore the irrigation systems of regular irrigated agricultural areas throughout the areas of 610 thousand ha, including Almaty region – 127 thousand ha, South Kazakhstan region – 99 thousand ha, East Kazakhstan region – 92 thousand ha, Jambyl region – 86 thousand ha, West Kazakhstan region – 40 thousand ha, Pavlodar region – 30 thousand ha, Aktobe and Kyzylorda regions – 29 thousand ha each, Karaganda and North Kazakhstan regions – 28 thousand ha each, Atyrau region – 22 thousand ha.
