The Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) will be provided with an integrated control and safety system by Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS), reads a message on the company’s website.
Honeywell Process Solutions is part of Honeywell’s Automation and Control Solutions group, a global leader in providing product and service solutions that improve efficiency and profitability, support regulatory compliance, and maintain safe, comfortable environments in homes, buildings and industry.
The system will ensure reliable and safe operations of compressor stations along the entire length of the pipeline, according to the message.
“Honeywell’s system integrates all process control and safety systems and automation software under a single unified architecture at TANAP stations”, the company said. “The system improves operators’ visibility and situational awareness to detect, avoid and respond to incidents that could endanger people, the pipeline or the environment”.
It will also help to provide uninterrupted supply through the pipeline, according to the message.
“Honeywell has a long history of working with critical energy projects in Turkey”, Orhan Genis, president of Honeywell in Turkey and Central Asia, said. “This important project will help to secure a supply of natural gas not only to this country but across Europe”.
Meanwhile, Pieter Krynauw, vice-president and general manager for HPS’ Projects and Automation Solutions business pointed out that Honeywell’s integrated solutions will enable TANAP to detect and resolve operational issues early, enhancing reliability for this important project.
TANAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the priority energy projects for the EU.
The project envisages transportation of gas of Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey. Turkey will get gas in 2018 and after completing the construction of Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) gas will be delivered to Europe in early 2020. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
