In January-August Belarus decreased the import of merchandise and services by 10.9% YoY to $18.978 billion, according to the latest statistics released by the National Bank.
In January-August Belarus’ foreign trade totaled $38.1 billion, down by 12.7% YoY. Belarus’ exports amounted to $19.159 billion (down by 14.4%), with imports at $18.978 billion (down by 10.9%). The surplus of the foreign trade in goods and services was $181 million.
Belarus’ foreign merchandise trade dropped by 15% to $31 billion. Merchandise exports went down by 17.3% to $14.9 billion, with imports down by 12.8% to $16.1 billion. The deficit of the foreign merchandise trade reached $1.2 billion.
In January-August Belarus’ foreign trade in services amounted to $7.1 billion (99.1% as against the same period of last year). Export of services was $4.26 billion (97.4%), with import at $2.87 billion (101.7%). The surplus of Belarus’ foreign trade in services reached $1.39 billion (down by 10.3%).
