In August Russia exported record high monthly volume of peas – 130.8 KMT. Over the first 2 months of 2016/2017 export shipments of peas rose by 72% to 240 KMT against 139.3 KMT in July-August 2015/2016.
Turkey remained the traditional importer of Russian peas over this period, importing 150 KMT – more than third of all purchases made in 2015/2016. Though, it is known that major part of Russian peas exported to Turkey goes to Indian market due to logistical factors. At the same time Russia increases peas exports to Indian market as well.
Over 2 months of 2016/2017 Russia exported more than half of the total volume shipped in this destination in 2015/2016. EU countries as well as Pakistan and Bangladesh remain among the key peas export markets for Russian peas.
Record export pace is connected with peas sowing area growth for the harvest 2016 (+15% compared to 2015). In 2016/2017 analysts expect that volumes of Russian peas exports will be even higher than record result of the last season. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
