In the current year, the general grain harvest in Russia will not exceed 113 million tons in clean weight, the Director of the Department of plant growing, chemicalization and plant protection at the Ministry of Agriculture Petr Chekmarev announced.
The Ministry lowered the forecast of maximum harvest volumes from 116 million tons to 113 million tons. Until the end of the harvesting campaign, agrarians will manage to produce 10 million tons of corn, 700 thousand tons of rice, nearly 1 million tons of wheat. Thus, the production volumes will reach 118-120 million tons of grains and pulses, but taking into account the average loss allowance at 5.5%, the harvest volumes will total 110-113 million tons in clean weight, the official explained.
At the same time, Chekmarev added that the Ministry increased the forecast of wheat production in the current year to 71 million tons, against 68 million tons expected in August. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
