Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats named industrial cooperation as a promising line in the interaction between Belarus and Tajikistan as he spoke at the conference held on September 22, to mark the 20th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Belarus.
Leonid Zayats took note of the project to organize the assembling of attached and towing equipment in the city of Hisor. A decision has also been taken to intensify the work on assembling Belarus tractors in Tajikistan.
“Cooperation in the agricultural sector is steadily expanding. The parties consider ways to widen collaboration in crop production and cattle breeding, including breeding stock supplies”, the minister said.
Tajikistan remains an important and reliable partner for Belarus in Central Asia. Leonid Zayats is confident that the cooperation between the two countries is vibrant and has a big potential. According to the minister, the joint efforts helped the two countries increase the mutual trade seven times since 2000.
“Nevertheless, this potential is still untapped, and we need to set forth new strategic goals”, he said.
According to Leonid Zayats, the joint intergovernmental commission is an important instrument in the development of trade and economic relations. Its regular meetings encourage businessmen and representatives of science and culture to seek new forms of cooperation and expansion of contacts.
“Over the past years we have made considerable progress in all the areas. The legal framework of the bilateral relations has been enlarged with a number of important documents, including a new long-term economic cooperation program”, the minister added. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
