Two strategic missile carrying bombers Tupolev-95MS take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s anti-terrorist exercise Peace Mission-2016, currently underway in Kyrgyzstan, an assistant to the commander of Russia’s Central Military District Yaroslav Roshchupkin has said.
“The planes took off from the Engels airdrome in the Saratov region, stayed in the air for about nine hours and returned to base after performing their mission”, he said.
The crews practiced data exchange with the Central Military District’s command centers deployed in the area of the exercise in Kyrgyzstan.
This is the fourth Peace Mission exercise by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This year military contingents from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Russia and Tajikistan are taking part.
Russia has delegated 500 infantrymen from the Central Military District’s mountain brigade stationed in southern Siberia. The tactical group has been reinforced by drones, commando units, radio-electronic warfare means, air defense forces, snipers, flame-throwers, communication specialists and medical personnel.
