Light life of Kyrgyzstan directly depends on the water level in Toktogul reservoir. If there is a lot of water, there will be an uninterrupted supply of electricity, little water will result in rolling blackouts.
This year, forecasters gave a magnificent forecast: low-water period has ended in Kyrgyzstan. However, energy sector workers are not in a hurry to rejoice. To have an optimal amount of water in spring, the country needs to live through the winter in a tight economy. As of October 1, the country plans to accumulate 17 billion cubic meters of water in Toktogul reservoir, by October 1, 2017 it is necessary to have at least 11 billion cubic meters, while about 8 billion cubic meters are discharged through the turbines during the heating season. It should be noted, that the government intends to specify in a resolution that the reservoir should have 13 billion cubic meters in spring.
As of August 17, the volume of water in Toktogul reservoir amounts to 16,740 billion cubic meters. (24.kg/Business World Magazine)
