Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met in Jakarta, Indonesia with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali on the sidelines of the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).
According to the Tajik president’s official website, Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between Tajikistan and IsDB.
The government of Tajikistan and IsDB have reportedly approved nine investment projects that will be implemented in Tajikistan in 2016-2018.
Tajik leader supported IsDB’s initiative to create the Lives and Livelihood Fund to provide affordable financing for the least wealthy 30 countries in the Islamic Development Bank’s membership.
Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan made constant efforts to strengthen its trade and economic ties with all friendly countries and development partners, as well as regional and international organizations and entities.
“Within these efforts, we established a close cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, Islamic Cooperation for the Development of the Private Sector, Islamic Trade Finance Cooperation and the Bank’s Special Assistance Program”, said Rahmon. “We implemented more than 55 various projects in subsectors of transport, energy, education and health, agriculture and also development of small and medium business during our partnership with the Islamic Development Bank Group”.
