In 2025, the rates for freight transport by road in Russia increased by an average of 12%. However, the increase was more significant on certain routes. For example, the cost of transporting goods on the routes from Moscow to St. Petersburg and from Voronezh to Volgograd increased by 30%, and from Omsk to Novosibirsk — by 40%. This follows from the data of the freight transport exchange ATI.SU, which were reviewed by “Vedomosti” and “Kommersant”. A representative of the exchange noted that the increase in rates was influenced by the growing demand — the number of requests on the platform increased by 37% year-on-year.
At the same time, last year many carriers were forced to leave the market due to increased costs and a sharp decline in profitability. In the specialized association “AvtoGruzEx”, they reported that by November 2025, about 6,700 companies were in the process of liquidation or bankruptcy. According to the United Leasing Association, in January-September of last year, businesses returned more than 40,000 units of equipment to leasing operators. However, after the increase in rates at the end of the year, more than 30% of this transport was leased back by companies, noted the co-owner and deputy director of PEC, Vadim Filatov (The Moscow Times).
