The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, has approved a decision that, according to the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, will create additional incentives for the development of distributed generation and increase electricity imports.
As the head of the Ministry of Energy reported, from now on, measures to restrict electricity supply will not apply to industrial and commercial consumers who provide at least 80% of their energy consumption through:
– Electricity of their own production;
– Electricity from distributed generation facilities within the framework of one distribution system operator. The mechanism will apply to gas piston and gas turbine installations of distributed electricity generation and will operate within the territory of one distribution system operator. This will stimulate the construction of new generating capacities, primarily in energy-deficient regions;
– Imported electricity. Which will contribute to increasing electricity imports on market terms.
For the effective application of this mechanism, the decision also regulates the procedure for interaction between Ukrenergo, the distribution system operator, electricity suppliers, distributed generation producers and consumers. (Energy Ministry)
