About 300 companies from the Republic of Moldova will be able to benefit from financial support for development under the European Union for small and medium-sized enterprises project. The initiative was launched on July 13 and has a total value of 8 million euros.
Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, said that the financial support would help the beneficiaries take rapid steps towards development, creation of new jobs, increasing the quality and diversification of the products and services offered. Under the new program, priority will be given to rural businesses and those run by women.
The head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, said that the new initiative was a unique opportunity to support small and medium-sized businesses in Moldova and represented a continuation of a previous project supported by the EU. Thanks to the new program, businesses will have more opportunities for development. In addition to financial support, the entrepreneurs will benefit from consulting services from the EU, Ambassador Janis Mazeiks has said.
The director of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), Dumitru Pintea, said that the EU support aimed to complement the sources that the state currently offered to entrepreneurs through several already existing grant programs.
