In June, Ukrainians registered the largest number of new businesses in the last three years (almost 31,500).
“Most new businesses were created in June (over 31,000). This is the highest figure not only for the period of Russia’s full-scale invasion but also for the last three years,” opendatabot reported.
In the first half of 2023, according to the service, Ukrainians opened just under 134,000 new businesses, almost 70% of the number of sole proprietorships opened in the entire year of 2022.
The most popular areas for starting new businesses have not changed. As in the previous year, retail trade took the top spot in 2023, with 38,405 Ukrainians (28.7%) officially starting a business.
The second most popular classification is computer programming, consulting and related activities. This year, 11,882 entrepreneurs (8.9%) have already started their own business in this area.
Over 8,745 individual entrepreneurs (6.5%) decided to provide other services.
Among the regions, Kyiv became the leader in terms of the number of newly created sole proprietorships in the first half of the year, with just over 19,000. Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions took second and third place, with almost 12,000 and over 10,000 sole proprietors, respectively. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
