A total of 10,822 permits were issued in Georgia in 2022 for construction projects spanning an area of 7.4 million square metres, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said in its latest release on January 30.
The office said the number of permissions had increased by 72% YoY, while the area of construction works had gone down by 0.2%.
The statistical update also showed 77.2% of the permits had been issued in four regions of the country, namely: capital city of Tbilisi – 51.9%, Mtskheta-Mtianeti region – 10.5%, Kvemo Kartli region – 8.4% and Imereti region – 6.4%.
Permissions were issued for construction of multifunctional residential complexes, hotels, trade facilities, industrial enterprises, agricultural objects and other facilities, the office also noted, adding multifunctional residential complexes had enjoyed a particularly large share in the overall figure.
In total, 2,654 facilities (+13.1%) were completed in the reporting period, with 36.6% located in Tbilisi, 11.8% in the central-eastern Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, 11.2% in the eastern Kakheti region and 9.1% in the western Imereti region. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
