Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has opened a business forum with the participation of about 20 Ukrainian and Ghanaian companies as part of his visit to Ghana.
The companies participating in the forum represented the fields of metallurgy, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food and beverage production, construction, renewable energy and IT services.
“During the negotiations with the leadership of Ghana, we have reached a political agreement on a significant intensification of economic cooperation. It is primarily about increasing trade and new projects in the agricultural sector,” Kuleba said.
As part of the business forum, a memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Council of Exporters and Investors under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.
According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, trade in goods between the two countries in 2021 amounted to $300.058 million. Export of goods amounted to $171.6 million (+110.5% YoY). Imports of goods amounted to $128.4 million (-3.8%).
Kuleba’s visit is the first tour of Ukraine’s foreign minister to African countries in the history of Ukrainian diplomacy. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
