Cooperation prospects and the growing dynamics of tourism recovery in Georgia were discussed on October 3 at a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Serkan Kaptan, the president of TAV Airports, the company managing two of the largest airports in the country.
The meeting noted the pandemic had posed “a number of challenges” to the company, with the head of the government welcoming TAV’s decisions to on development and adding he hoped further innovations would be offered in the future, the government administration said.
The officials stressed it was “important to stimulate” new airlines and new routes in the country’s market, with Garibashvili noting his government was ready to “actively work together” with TAV in this direction.
TAV Georgia has made a $220-million investment that has put into operation the new passenger terminals of Tbilisi and Batumi international airports. Investments made in 2016-2017 saw the existing runway at the Tbilisi facility “fully rehabilitated”, while a new flight terminal was also opened. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
