Capacity of Ukrainian ports of the Danube will be expanded 1.7-fold, to 25 million tons per year. This plan was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
“We started with 400 thousand tons in March. Now the shipments amount to 1.5 million tons. We have reached this with limited resources and infrastructure,” he said.
The ministry plans to modernize ports of Izmail, Reni and Ust-Danube, build new terminals and hubs, attract private investments for constructions.
The development plan also includes dredging, further implementation of the “Danube-Black Sea” deep-sea navigation project, building of inland navigation fleet, repair and modernization of the existing fleet, attraction of a used fleet for the fastest possible effect, construction and modernization of railway tracks, direct railway connection, and creation of conditions for free road traffic.
The investments needed to implement these projects amount to $200 million. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
