Moldova will contract a loan worth 300 million euros on behalf of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of the project titled “Security of Natural Gas Supply”.
The parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances on July 6 approved a report to the draft law for the ratification of the agreement on loan between Moldova and EBRD, signed on June 23.
Under the document, the loan will be disbursed in two installments worth 100 million euros and 200 million euros. They money will be used for the purchasing of gas reserves on emergency purposes and for the diversification of the supply sources. At the same time, the risks will be diminished as regards the possible limitings or ceasings in the provision of natural gas, in the context of the political situation and the developments of the energy markets in the region.
