A total of 12 types of Georgian wine have been exported to Qatar since May 27, marking the first batches of Georgian wine export to the country, the Georgian National Wine Agency reports.
As a result of the cooperation between the Embassy of Georgia in Qatar and the country’s Distribution Company, Georgian wine will soon be available in five-star hotels in the capital city of Doha and in areas where alcohol is permitted, the national body said.
A tasting event of Georgian wine was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, with the occasion organised by the Georgian Embassy for promoting the product. Diplomats and representatives of the local business sector were in attendance.
Guests at the event were introduced to the culture and history of Georgian Winemaking, and tasted both alcoholic drinks and the country’s traditional dishes.
The Agency also pointed out the importance of the export of Georgian wine to Qatar, referring to the country’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
