The Uzbek government has said it would invest nearly $1.87 million into the development of the flower industry. It plans to increase the volume of flower cultivation and flower exports, as well as to promote floriculture among the population.
Funds are to be allocated to the newly created Association of Florists for attracting international experts, training domestic personnel as well as conducting scientific conferences and flower exhibitions.
The government seeks to create flower clusters in six provinces, including Andijan, Namangan and Dzhizzakh regions.
With this in mind, Uzbek entrepreneurs would be leased land plots ranging from 0.06 to 1 hectare for 30 years via an electronic tender system. (Uzreport/Business World Magazine)
