According to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s instruction, an innovation strategy is being developed in the country and coordination in the field of innovative development is being increased through the involvement of reputable international consultants, Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications Vusal Gasimli has said.
Gasimli made the remarks in Baku during the discussion of Azerbaijan’s position in the Global Innovation Index 2019 on October 3.
“The collaboration has been established with the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution of the World Economic Forum,” he said. “The Innovation Agency has begun to operate.”
“The www.enterpriseazerbaijan.com website and other incubation and acceleration centers support innovative startups,” he added.
“In general, the development of the innovation ecosystem helps strengthen Azerbaijan’s positions in the Global Innovation Index,” he noted. “For this purpose, relevant activities are also planned to be carried out within the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings.”
As for Azerbaijan’s position in the Global Innovation Index 2019, the country has great potential for progress compared to other countries. In particular, the infrastructure and investment environment created in the country in recent years testify to this, Gasimli noted.
The Global Innovation Index is being prepared by Cornell University, located in Ithaca, New York (US) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This ranking, covering 129 countries, is based on 80 indicators. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
