Eight Georgian companies have won 41 awards at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).
Georgian companies – Badagoni, Chateau Mukhrani, GWS Winery, Tbilvino, Telavi Wine Cellar, Teliani Valley, Schuchmann Wines, Vaziani Winery – won 11 silver and 30 bronze medals.
Last year Georgia got 47 awards at IWSC.
The competition is held annually in spring and is divided into two stages: professional blind tasting (samples are given to judges in numbered identical glasses), and the second stage, which is a detailed laboratory (chemical and microbiological) analysis. In the event that any of them do not meet the requirements of the competition, the manufacturer may lose its award and receive negative feedback.
Judging takes place in several stages from March to September. The results are announced in May, June and September, depending on the category. The general presentation takes place in November.
Established in London in 1969, IWSC sets the highest standard of quality and declares its main goal to support and promote the best wines of the world market and the skill of winemakers. (Agenda/Business World Magazine)
