Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has met with Chief Adviser on Infrastructure and Technology to the Afghan president Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi, the Turkmen government said in message on November 17.
According to the message, Qayoumi stressed the great importance of the large-scale projects, which were being implemented, for the regional countries.
Among those projects is the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railway, as well as power transmission lines to Afghanistan.
President Berdimuhamedov confirmed his country’s commitment to a friendly, constructive dialogue with Afghanistan and the readiness to continue to render assistance in the economic and cultural revival of the neighboring country.
The sides expressed confidence that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan relations would continue to develop.
The first stage of the Asian international railway transport corridor was commissioned on the route Atamyrat (Turkmenistan) – Aqina (Afghanistan) in November 2016. Turkmen specialists also built the Afghan section of the corridor.
After the commissioning of the first stage of the Asian international railway transport corridor, broad opportunities have been created for Afghanistan, Tajikistan, China, India, Pakistan and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as favorable conditions have been created for increasing the flow of goods to Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Europe.
