Uzbek and Turkmen leaders discussed “untapped potential” in the development of bilateral ties, as President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to Ashgabat on April 29.
According to the press service of the Uzbek president, the trade turnover between the states has tripled over the past few years, reaching $530 million in 2020.
The parties expressed their readiness to further jointly promote the Ashgabat Agreement on the creation of an international transport and transit corridor, as well as to ensure the effective functioning of the China – Central Asia – South Caucasus – Turkey multimodal route.
They announced a plan to hold a regular meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation in Tashkent in the near future. (Uzreport/Business World Magazine)
